New Solar Golf Cart Has Appeared in 2011
Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club in Central Florida has proved golf carts can run on solar power without being plugged into electrical outlets every night. Gulf City Solar, a Bonita Springs, Fla.-based company, installed its thinfilm solar panels and power management systems on the club’s fleet of 125 E-Z-GO golf carts earlier this year. The club charges the carts overnight only once a week; solar energy provides enough power to run the carts for daily use.Unlike solar power kits that use heavy glass panels that can weigh up to 60 pounds or require cart owners to replace their roofs, Gulf City Solar uses a thinfilm panel, weighing about nine pounds.
This is the first year of the Monroe Classic at Chennault Park, presented by Adams Golf Pro Tour Series, with plans to continue for years to come. Since 1994, the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series has successfully graduated players to the PGA Tour including Jerod Turner, Harrison Frazar, Tag Ridlings, Mark Hensby, as well as PGA winners Rich Barcelo, Tim Herron and Ryan Palmer. Over sixty Adams Golf Pro Tour Series members have also earned their privileges to the PGA's Nationwide Tour. “We are so excited for the opportunity to host this tournament,” said Mike Nugent, Director of Chennault Golf Park Course and Head Golf Professional. “

Evergreen was still open. I drove past it and could barely see past all the cars and smiling golfers in the parking lot.Evergreen was the first “real” golf course I ever played. My grandfather took me when he thought I was ready. (I wasn't.) It was called Creekside back then. When my son, Nathan, said he wanted to try golf, I took him there. He was about the same age I was when I first set foot on the course.
