OSU Golfers Win Big 12 Title

OSU Golfers Win Big 12 Title

Oklahoma State won its fifth consecutive conference crown and ninth in the league’s 15-year history. OSU finished with a four-round team total of 1,139 to pull away from Texas A&M by 13 strokes, marking the fourth consecutive year the Cowboys have won by at least 13 strokes. The victory gives the Oklahoma State golf program Review of TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 Series 54 conference titles in 65 years of play. The harsh conditions also got the better of the University of Oklahoma golfers in the final round as the Sooners came in with a team total of 311.Wednesday’s conditions turned the final round into a contest of who would make the fewest mistakes and that was Oklahoma State’s Peter Uihlein, who was the only golfer to avoid a round over par, which helped him move from 19th to a tie for fourth.Prairie Dunes showed its teeth. The course played hard all week, but today it was definitely difficult,” Uihlein said. “I finally came around and hit the ball pretty good and was able to take advantage on some holes. I just hit it better today, I just wasn’t comfortable all week and (Tuesday) I scrapped around a 69 — I don’t know how — but today I hit it a lot better and was able to make some putts.”
OSU junior Morgan Hoffmann won medalist honors — the second time he has won the Big 12 at Prairie Dunes, doing so in 2009 as a freshman — with a four-round total of 280 despite shooting a 3-over 73 on the final day. Ryan Sirman was the top finisher for the Sooners, falling from his spot in fourth heading into the final day thanks to a 7-over 77 that landed him just outside of the top 10 with a tie for 11th-place with a four-round total of 290.The victory was the second this season for Hoffmann and his fifth career victory at OSU. Coming in behind Hoffmann was senior Kevin Tway, who shot a 5-over 75 in the final round to finish five strokes behind Hoffmann for second. It was the fourth time OSU had the top two individuals in the conference tournament.

Ko Will Have An Outstanding Future For Golf

Ko Will Have An Outstanding Future For Golf

Ko, from the North Shore club, who won the strokeplay title by nine shots at the Russley Golf Club on Saturday, yesterday ended the two-year run of her friend and New Zealand team-mate, Cecilia Cho (Pakuranga), Lydia Ko Becomes Youngest NZ Golf Championas the national amateur champion, beating Cho 4 and 3. Since Christmas Ko has unleashed a string of impressive results. She won the North Island strokeplay championship, was fourth equal in the New Zealand women's open at the Pegasus course - a professional event featuring some of the best players in the world. From there she headed to Australia where she became the youngest winner of their national strokeplay championship. When she won the New Zealand equivalent last Saturday she became the first player to win the two titles in the same year. "I made a few mistakes after I went one up on the first hole, but I didn't really lose a hole until 12, but then I birdied the next two holes."
When four up with four to play Ko said her plan was to put her tee shot as close as possible to the pin on the 15th green and make a par. That's exactly what she did. She left her birdie putt beside the hole for a gimme' par, and Cho missed her birdie to give Ko the title. There are more mundane matters on the agenda for Ko in the next few weeks. It's back to school to prepare for exams, but later in the year she is hoping to be picked to play the British amateur championship and also the US amateur. The unassuming Auckland teenager yesterday added the New Zealand women's amateur golf title to the strokeplay title she won three days earlier, and further enhanced her reputation as an outstanding prospect for the future.

Golf Seeds Were Send Packing at Russley Golf Club

Golf Seeds Were Send Packing at Russley Golf Club

Yesterday as No 1 seed Ryan Fox and the New Zealand No 1 Ben Campbell were sent packing in the second round at the Russley Golf Club in Christchurch.Campbell and Fox were not alone as the top six seeds of the 32 players in the men's draw did not make the quarter-finals. Auckland's Sam An, the seventh seed, is now the highest-ranked player in the field after an astonishing day of upsets in summer-like conditions. An hour later world No 9 Campbell, who many expected Fox would meet in the semifinals this afternoon, Georgia Tech Takes Golf Title was knocked out by Josh Munn 1up.
It was the upset of Fox by Heyes that had most of the members at Russley talking in the early afternoon. Only a day after one of the highs of his amateur career - winning his first New Zealand strokeplay title by five shots - Fox was humbled by Steven Heyes on the 19th hole.He made a great birdie on the 17th and then made par at the last to Heyes' bogey to stay alive.Fox hit his approach to the par-three 10th, the 19th hole, about 20m right of the green and Heyes took advantage, successfully two putting from about 10m for par to send the No 1 seed home early. That was a huge relief to see that go in. I am just so pleased I finished it off, no one gave me a chance. This is huge for my confidence, beating Ryan means a lot to me and if I hit the ball like I did today then I think I have a good chance in this tournament."Munn made a crucial birdie on the 17th hole to go 1up against Campbell and came up with an incredible chip shot at the final hole to save his par and seal the contest when Campbell missed his birdie putt."That was some of the best golf I have ever played," Munn, 20, said.

Donald Loses Golf's Heritage Tournament

Donald Loses Golf's Heritage Tournament

Donald would have moved to the No. 1 spot from No. 3 had he won the PGA Tour event at Harbour Town Golf Links. His countryman, Lee Westwood, rose from second to No. 1, replacing German Martin Kaymer, Brandt Snedeker Wins The Heritage after winning the Indonesian Masters by three strokes earlier in the day — his 38th birthday.Donald got a partially buried lie in a front bunker on the third playoff hole, No. 18. He blasted out to about 15 feet from the flag and his chip for par from slightly off the green hit an edge of the cup and rolled away.
Westwood ended Tiger Woods’s record five-year reign atop the world rankings on Nov. 1 and was replaced by Kaymer in February. Westwood is the only golfer to reach No. 1 without having won one of the sport’s four major championships. He’s the second Englishman after six-time major winner Nick Faldo to top the rankings and the 14th person to hold the honor.
Donald, 33, would have topped the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time with a victory yesterday at Harbour Town Golf Links at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
It was going to be some big rewards if I won,” Donald told reporters. “To be No. 1 would be great, but it’s not everything. It certainly would be a tick in the box and it would be something great to talk to the grandkids about in 30 years.”
Instead, Westwood, who like Donald is English, regains the top spot from Germany’s Kaymer, the U.S. PGA champion. Westwood, on his 38th birthday, won the Indonesian Masters by three strokes yesterday. The two made par at the second playoff hole, then Donald missed a par putt on the next hole to hand Snedeker the win.

Gay's Good Luck at Heritage

Gay's Good Luck at Heritage

Gay said trips to Hilton Head Island cause him to think back to his memorable 2009 championship, in which he blistered the field to a Heritage record 10-stroke victory. Wearing the same shade of bright green pants he sported Thursday -- and yes, Putter Will Be The Key Factor If Woods Wins Again he is superstitious -- Gay shot a 7-under 64 in the final round of 2009 to finish at 20-under par, also a tournament record.
He finished in a tie for 32nd place last season, but he hasn't forgotten what carried him two years ago.Two years after winning the Heritage in record-breaking fashion, Brian Gay put himself on solid footing Thursday to contend for another tartan jacket. And a comfortable one. Gay called Harbour Town his favorite course on the PGA Tour, saying it has the feeling of home. It felt more and more cozy as his opening round progressed Thursday.Gay played 1-under par for the first four holes, then eagled No. 5. He stuck his 228-yard second shot 16 feet from the pin and made the ensuing putt for eagle on the par 5. Gay said the shot jump-started his round, and he followed with three more birdies over the next seven holes. He bogeyed the par-3 17th, but it was his only blunder of the day. Gay has finished among the top 25 in six of the nine events he's played this year, including fifth-place finishes at the Bob Hope Classic in January and the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun in February. A fine line, he said, can propel him to the top of the leaderboard.

Darton Community College win the NJCAA
In its first season moving up from NJCAA Division II to Division I, the Darton College golf team emerges as the champs of the District Tournament on Tuesday, punching its TaylorMade R11 Review 10th straight ticket to nationals. Darton Community College shot 12-under 276 to win the NJCAA District 3 Championship on Monday in Alexander City, Ala.
The win might have made Dover shed a tear or two, but all it did for Darton assistant coach Bill Jones — who was on the Cavs’ last national title in 2007 before going on to star at Mercer and then finding his way back to Albany to work alongside his former mentor — was make him say “I told ya so” to his players.
We just didn't score," BCC coach Jamie Howell said. "We didn't make enough birdies when it counted.Brandt Garon of Meridian shot 68 to beat Chase Seifert of Central Alabama for the individual crown. The top seven teams advanced to the National Championship in Odessa, Texas, beginning May 15.

Rory will bounce back

Rory will bounce back

McElroy will recover from his Augusta and Malaysian hiccups, of that we can be sure, but Époque will probably be turned out of his home after giving away that penalty to Liverpool in the 36th minute of added time yesterday, or whatever it was. He will, though, always find a welcome at Old Trafford, where a statue of the fell is being erected. Always, though, when we visit CNN, they’re telling us about the latest from the Asian Stock Market, but this time year man Is masters the greatest sport event in the world on the screen was howling about “RoooOOOooRy’s MELTDOWN!!”. Jeez, no escape. The fact he was calling him “Rory”, and not “McElroy”, was an indication the fell has now moved in to “Tiger” (and not “Woods”) territory, a status he didn’t achieve when he was winning tournaments and proving there was magic in them there club-clutching hands. That’s the way, though, place yerself at the centre of a sporting “tragedy” and your fame will know no bounds. And a tragedy, while we’re on the subject, is what “Tony from Emmerdale” suffered at yesterday’s London Marathon.
“I was trying to become the fastest fairy in the world,” he told the BBC, after completing the course in, well, a fairy outfit. “But I’ve just learnt I missed out, I’m only the second fastest fairy in the world.”It’s hard to know what to say to Tony at a time like that, other than: “Well, at least you’re not Emmanuel Eboue.”“I’m looking forward to seeing Delap’s weapon,” he wept, prompting Kev and Sam to call their agents in the hope there was a managerial vacancy somewhere. Anywhere.

Spring is good for outdoor sport recreation

Spring is good for outdoor sport recreation

Sports enthusiasts who enjoyed playing cricket and golf, as well as biking and walking, began local clubs dedicated to supporting these hobbies. As one club’s popularity began to fade out, another one quickly took its place as Wayne residents easily found themselves drawn to the newest spring sports “fad.” The April columns penned by Patterson Ping G15 Series Review in 1949 and 1950 take readers back in time to the start of these clubs.Writing about the Golf Club, Patterson shared these quotes from George W. Schultz, who was instrumental in the establishment of the golf club. “One Sunday in the spring of 1896 A.J.D. (Tony) Peterson came to my house carrying a small white ball and a club with a bent iron on its end and, chuckling, he began tapping the ball on the lawn. He said he had been to Devon the day before by invitation of a friend who introduced him to a Scotch game called golf, started by summer residents of Devon Inn,” began Schultz's story.
In addition to the sports played at the Merrivale Club, many of its members “took to early Sunday-morning hikes, the group eventually being known as ‘The Walkers.’ Among them were David Knickerbacker Boyd, the architect, Billy Brown, son of the then publisher of the Wayne Times, Charles Gleason, Lee Harrison, Bill Everly and the Schultz brothers," wrote Patterson.“The rambles of these hikers took them cross-country towards King of Prussia, a section that was mostly woods and farms then. If unobserved, they were not above taking a little refreshment from stone spring houses in the way of ‘a dipper of rich cream off a crock in the cold spring water!’” reported Patterson.

Tiger had never lost a major championship with a share of the lead

Tiger had never lost a major championship with a share of the lead

Woods is winless since the ’09 JBWere Masters in Australia – before the car accident in the early hours of the morning after Thanksgiving which led to, well, everything after that. But, Bissinger’s timing is wrong. He needed to look three months sooner to Hazeltine, when YE Yang became the first player in Woods’ career to defeat Woods when Masters The greatest Sport event in the world he had a share of the 54-hole lead in a major. That was the moment that did in Woods as we knew him. The car crash, the litany of women (real and imagined) to have relations with him, the rehab and the divorce all played a role – how could they not? – in digging a deeper trench for Woods, but the first Korean major champion deserves more credit than a fire hydrant for derailing Woods’ march to history.Tiger had never lost a major championship with a share of the lead after three rounds. 14-0. He was on his way to 15-0 when Yang had other designs. Tiger tried every trick in the book and to pull out all of the stops, but the final dagger of Yang’s hybrid into the 72nd hole ended one of the most savored records in sport.
Woods had never won a major when trailing after 54 holes. Be the margin one shot or ten, Woods had been unable to puncture the pinata of major goodness without looking over the field with an advantage. And that’s where Bissinger lost his way in his analysis. Perhaps still bitter about feeling duped – or foolish – for buying into Woods’ marketed persona (which was implied, not explicit, but that’s another article), Bissinger said the old Tiger would have capped off that front nine run with enough in the tank to take home his fifth Masters.

Masters winner Schwartzel to join Canadian Open

Masters winner Schwartzel to join Canadian Open

It's an intriguing trio that organizers of the RBC Canadian Open might want to throw together in the same group at this summer's tournament at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club.We have known for quite some time that Els will be playing at Shaughnessy, but the additions of Schwartzel and Oosthuizen are a big bonus for a Canadian Open field Know More About Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel that is shaping up to be the best in many years.Oosthuizen's sister-in-law, Kamloops resident Susanna Swart, confirmed their participation in a phone interview on Wednesday. She and her family just returned from the Masters, which Schwartzel won in dramatic fashion by birdieing the final four holes on Sunday."They are both coming to play," said Swart, whose younger sister, Nel-Mare, is married to Oosthuizen.Swart said Oosthuizen and Schwartzel, along with their families, will be joining she and her husband Servaas and their children at a lake-front home in the Okanagan for a vacation right after the Canadian Open.
Oosthuizen, who won last summer's British Open, and Schwartzel have been close friends since their junior golf days in South Africa and have previously visited the Kamloops area for vacations.Oosthuizen even played a round of golf in relative anonymity at Tobiano near Kamloops after his British Open win last summer at St. Andrews. "Louis comes every year and Charl has been here twice now," Swart said, then added with a laugh: "Just think about it, these are two guys who have both stayed in my basement. They have both won majors. It's funny, eh."Swart is convinced Schwartzel's Masters win won't change his plans."We texted Charl the other day just joking about it," she said. "And he said I'll see you this summer."Swart said after their Okanagan vacation, Oosthuizen and Schwartzel are planning to fly out of Kelowna to the Bridgestone Invitational, a World Golf Championship event scheduled for Aug. 4-7 in Akron, Ohio.

Paula Creamer's U.S. Open win

Paula Creamer's U.S. Open win

Cristie Kerr won last month’s LPGA Championship by a laughable 12 strokes and became the first American to rise to No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings. Then, on Sunday, Paula Creamer backed that up by winning the most prestigious event in the game, the U.S. Women’s Open, at the best course in championship golf, Oakmont, near Pittsburgh. (Sorry, Pebble Beach, your teeny-weeny greens are mere picnic tables compared with Know More About Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel Oakmont’s undulating amusement-park rides.) Other than the occasional Solheim Cup victory, U.S. women haven’t had much to brag about of late. From 2005 through ’09, Americans won only four majors, and no American has finished first on the LPGA money list since Betsy King in 1993. U.S. golf needed this run, as the women’s game has outgrown the country that put it on the map. Only five of the top 20 players in the Rolex Ranking are Americans, and barely half (14 of 25) of the LPGA’s tournaments are played in the U.S. Kerr’s ascension and Creamer’s breakthrough win — she defeated Na Yeon Choi and Suzann Pettersen by four shots — are unlikely to slow the LPGA’s globalization, but at least those accomplishments provide a red-white-and-blue break from business as usual. Says Kerr, “I think we can finally stop answering, When are the Americans going to come up to the challenge?”
Adds Christina Kim, who tied for eighth at Oakmont and was one of 10 Americans to crack the top 20, “Everyone has been talking about the Asian invasion and how there aren’t enough good American players. This is huge.” The win may Review of Ping G15 Series prove especially big for the 23-year-old Creamer, who has been largely overlooked since a four-win season in ’08. Creamer was an instant star when she turned pro after high school in 2005 and became the most recognizable U.S. player, next to Michelle Wie, with her Pink Panther nickname and motif. Now that she has a major to go with eight other LPGA victories, the popular Creamer, who jumped to seventh in the Rolex Ranking, is well-positioned to become the new face of the LPGA.

Jack Nicklaus kick off 2011 Masters

Jack Nicklaus kick off 2011 Masters

Nicklaus said he saw the shadows across the fairway and wondered if he and Palmer could hit it "out of our own shadows. I guess it's still kind of fun to lop it off the first tee and be part of a great event."The Golden Bear said he planned to spend the rest of the week fishing."I'm not going to sit around and watch a golf tournament," he said. "I'll come in Nicklaus Talks About The Masters and watch in the evening. But it's not like there's going to be business happening this week. Anyone in the game of golf is here. I can go sit in an office and wait for no phone calls, or go fishing. And that's what I'm going to do.""I feel very fortunate to have had him with me all these years," Crenshaw said after a disappointing 6-over par 78. "We can certainly look back and see some very, very nice times and some really fine, fun tournaments that we didn't win but we were in the fray a lot. He's spilled a lot of blood for me."
"Just a pleasure, just a pleasure," Jackson said. "To watch him putt these greens those many years ... no matter what the outcome, he's always got a chance.""It's not my game, is it, at the moment?" Westwood sighed. "If you can't hole it out from four feet, you're going to struggle, aren't you?""For me it was very difficult," Kaymer admitted. "Every day that I played here was a tough day so far. There's some golf courses that suit you and some they just don't."

Anything still seemed possible for Tiger Woods

Anything still seemed possible for Tiger Woods

Woods birdied three of the first five holes and in quick succession, the par-3 sixth and long par-4 seventh, then hit a fairway metal nearly 280 yards from the fairway on the par-5 eighth to 8 feet. He rolled that one in for eagle.Woods finished each of the first Tiger Played Well In Masters Once Again  three rounds of the Masters saying that all he needed to win this thing was a good start. And now, two hours after turning for home following a blistering 31 on the front nine — and a tie for the lead at 10-under — that was all it turned out to be."It was a nice little run there," Woods said after posting a final round 67, still hoping for a spot in a playoff that never happened. But I never think that woods will back the stage of golf game. There was a time when Woods' name bubbled up atop the leaderboard here and you might as well send the rest of the field home. Back then, his rivals' knees buckled or their nerves frayed, causing them to attempt shots they didn't have. Woods still scares opponents, to be sure, just not the way he did once. His last chance to do that came at the par-5 15th, after rocketing a long iron onto the green and within 5 feet of the cup. Instead, this eagle try slid past the hole on the right.
A tap-in birdie left Woods still tied for the lead. But he came home with three straight pars, leaving his fate in the hands of the dozen guys behind him still jockeying for position, something he rarely did before.Someone asked Woods if he could take back one shot and hit it again, which one would that be."We can't do that. We do that every week and we would go crazy," he said, "wouldn't we?"

The spotlight at Masters

The spotlight at Masters

Rory McIlroy’s bogey-free 65 tied Alvaro Quiros for the first-round lead. Six of McIlroy’s seven birdies came on putts shorter than 10 feet.McIlroy also led by two after the first round of last year’s British Open at St. Andrews, but shot 80 while playing in heavy winds in the second round. He finished third, his third bronze-medal showing in nine career Tiger Played Well In Masters Once Again majors.“I’ll be thinking about it and I’ll be thinking about how I can do things better (Friday) than I did that day,” he said. “So if I do find myself in a bit of trouble, I’m going to have to stick in there, grind it out, and that’s something that I feel as if I learned to do at St. Andrews.”Amateurs are accustomed to playing in front of friends and family. The Masters’ large crowds are just another challenge they must overcome. When David Chung stepped to Augusta National’s first tee at 7:56 a.m. Thursday, he tried to take deep breaths to relax himself.“It seemed like there was no oxygen coming into my lungs,” said Chung, a junior at Stanford. “Not only are there people all around you, but there are people lining the fairways. It’s very different.”
Chung eventually grew comfortable with the crowds. He was 2 under through 16 holes before bogeying the final two holes. Asian Amateur champion Hideki Matsuyama and U.S. Amateur champion Peter Uihlein also shot 72 on Thursday.Jin Jeong, the British Amateur champion, shot 73, while U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Nathan Smith shot 75 and U.S. Amateur Public Links winner Lion Kim shot 76.“It was a perfect day for scoring and I would have loved to have shot something a little bit lower, but it’s nice to have a little mini-comeback in the middle there,” Donald said. “I just got off to a really slow start. I’ve done that a little bit in majors before, I’m not sure why, but just couldn’t quite let it go.”

Important factors for Successful Sand Play

Important factors for Successful Sand Play

You should use a sand wedge when playing short sand shots around the green. A sand wedge may vary from 55 to 58 degrees of loft with 8 to 12 degrees of bounce. I personally prefer a 58-degree sand wedge with 8 degrees of bounce.Once you have the correct setup with the same amount of weight on each foot, the face of the club should be slightly open (photo at right). This puts loft on the ball and allows the back portion of the bottom of the club to bounce Ai Miyazato Helps Tsunami Sufferers off the sand, as opposed to having the leading edge dig into the sand.As you make contact with the sand there should be a cupping of the left wrist. Let me explain "cupping." Assume you are wearing a watch on your left wrist and the face, as usual, is pointing outward. When contacting the sand on the forward swing, you should try to take the back of your left hand and move it towards your watch face, thereby creating wrinkles underneath your left wrist. This action is called "cupping of the wrist" and it is very necessary in producing quality sand shots. Since this motion prevents the club from closing, the ball is lifted in the air with backspin. The start of the backswing (see Swing Sequence photos below) should be straight back or slightly outside the target line. There is an immediate breaking of the hands as you start this motion, producing a more vertical swing which encourages the club to enter the sand about two inches behind the ball (this is the point of entry).

Tiger's golf journey with his new swing

Tiger's golf journey with his new swing

I think Tiger has become golf's Mike Tyson - remember how feared Tyson was before he was beaten by Buster Douglas? - he won't become the dominate player he once was on the PGA Tour.Tiger doesn't agree. One of the reasons is his new swing coach, Sean Foley.Much of the 20-minute chat with media focused on Woods' swing changes. All technical stuff for those few who can really analyze a swing. What I saw - and liked - was the feisty side Tiger Woods Also Disavow That One Year Later of Woods."Doesn't matter," Woods shot back when asked how he felt about not being a Masters favorite. "You still have to play the golf tournament, right? We all have an opportunity. Everyone has the same opportunity as I do and always has."The four-time Masters champion added a simple "no" when the subject of have we seen the best of Tiger Woods."Well, I believe in myself," Woods said. "There's nothing wrong with believing in myself. God, I hope you (in the media) feel the same about yourselves. You know, that's the whole idea, is that you can always become better."Woods' resume of 71 PGA Tour wins, including 14 majors, leaves the 35-year-old on the radar of every player and fan interested in the outcome.
"It took a pretty good pounding on my knee doing it that way. As you know, I tore cartilage and my ACL over the years, so I don't want to swing that way. It's too much change."To the average hacker, Woods' swing was a thing of beauty. So what's to change?"Well, (Sean) and I have changed a lot," Woods said. "From stance, to grip, to where the club is. ... where he believes the club needs to be throughout the entire golf swing, and obviously what the body is doing. That's way different than what I used to do."The grip part I got pretty quickly. The posture I got pretty quickly. The other stuff has been more difficult.""Far as being around Sean, he's a great dude," Woods said. "He really is. He knows a lot about a lot. He's very philosophical, and it's always fun to pick his brain."

David Chung readys for shot at the Masters

On Thursday, Chung will tee it up in the Super Bowl of golf - the Masters in Augusta, Ga.David qualified for the tournament by finishing as the runner-up at the U.S. Amateur in August."Hopefully, I play well. That would be a great thing. But I just want to soak up the experience," David said. "I don't think I will remember my score, but I will remember the people I meet, the things I do and the experiences I have."Outwardly, David appears calm and poised. He speaks in low, measured tones about entering the game at its highest level. He is all business. He rarely cracks a smile when talking about it.His mother, Elise Chung, is amazed at how her Ai Miyazato Helps Tsunami Sufferers son has handled himself in pressure situations, playing in front of large crowds. He was the runner-up in the U.S. Junior Amateur, as well."What I'm most proud of is how he handles himself in that type of situation," she said. "It's just like a walk in the park to him. I can't believe that's my son. He's calmer than my husband or myself."Maybe his poise comes from a lifetime of premier instruction. It started with Jens Klemschke, the head professional at Highland Country Club since 1997. Klemschke remembers watching David since he was 5 when his father, Chris Chung, would teach him how to hold the club."I knew almost immediately he was special," Klemschke said. "When he was 7 or 8, he was hitting golf shots most adults can't hit. It was amazing how the ball was coming off the club face."David moved on to the late golf professional L.B. Floyd, who guided two other Fayetteville men, his son, Raymond, and Chip Beck, to successful careers in golf.
